Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein defended her recount efforts Monday, even though she admits there is no evidence of fraud at the ballot box. Green Party officials filed for a recount in Wisconsin Friday after some limited reports of possible voting discrepancies in areas that used paper ballots versus those where electronic voting took place. Stein has raised more than $5 million online for the recount in the state, which state officials estimate will cost about $3.5 million. Stein’s campaign plans to request a recount in Michigan by Wednesday, and is working to organize the hundreds of petitions needed to get one started in Pennsylvania. President-elect Donald Trump charged accused Stein of using this as a fundraising ploy by the Green Party and Stein, but she denied that she’s doing this for that reason. Hillary Clinton’s campaign said Saturday it will take part in efforts to push for recounts in several key states, joining with Green Party candidate Jill Stein. But, in a post on Medium, Marc Elias, the campaign’s counsel, said the campaign’s own investigation has not uncovered any evidence of hacking of voting systems. On Monday, Michigan’s secretary of state office announced that President-elect Donald Trump won Michigan’s 16 electoral votes. That brought the final electoral tally for Trump 306, while former Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton has 232 electoral votes.Clinton continues to lead Trump for the country’s popular vote by about 2 million votes, and the lead is likely to grow as votes continue to be counted. But Trump on Saturday dismissed the recount and said that “the election is over.” The President-elect blasted the Green Party’s effort as a “scam” and accused the party’s nominee, Jill Stein, of trying to reel in donations that she won’t actually spend on a recount.
In my opinion these people are dragging everything out, more than it need to be and causing to much commotion. I don’t see the reason in recounting the ballots, Donal Trump won end of story. Now lets get on with our lives and see what his next move is and not find ways to fins a way to over throw him. and okay what if they start recounting all the ballots because they believed it was tampered with, well how do we know it isn’t being tampered with by these other formal candidates to prove that trump one out of a mistake. No, the people spoke and decided the wanted a change in this country and picked a candidate that devastated many citizens but also brought joy to many other people in different states that voted fro his presidency. Honestly Jill Stein, as one of my friends stated in class, “this is why you had 0.1% chance of winning.”
ps: this is a bit late. but you know what the say better late than never. Plus the last paragraph is really what I think of the situation.
